Unable to connect to iTunes

When I try to log-in my Apple ID, it says "Your Apple ID isnt enabled for iTunes". When I search on how to fix it, there werent any clear way of fixing the problem. I simply want to redeem an iTunes card, but it seems iTunes doesnt want me to.
